State police at Frackville are warning residents of a phone scam that is being operated in the area.

Troopers said residents receive a phone call from number 202-241-7086, in which the caller tells the victim that he is from the criminal justice department of the Internal Revenue Service and that a warrant exists for which they'll need to forward an amount of money to satisfy it, preferably through loaded debit cards such as Green Dot, etc.No one has reported falling complete victim to this scam, yet, troopers said, but residents should be aware of it. Troopers said the number provided, which has a Washington, D.C. area code, is a cellular number out of Canada.
