October 23, 1953 After being shut out in the first half, Lansford scores three times in the second half to gain a 19-13 win over Tamaqua. Fred Tiiley and Eddie Chuckran both finish off two long drives for the Panthers to reach the end zone. Tiley gets in from four yards out while Chuckran breaks free for a 13-yard scoring run. The winners, coached by Johnny Chuckran, add another score after a Raider turnover. Bernie "The Horse" Matta powers in from 16 yards to close out the Lansford scoring. Tamaqua's TDs come from Ed Adams and Billy Hood.
