A Northumberland County driver escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash in Schuylkill County on Tuesday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jarrod J. Taylor, 32, of Mount Carmel, was driving a 2002 Saturn SL1 northbound on Airport Road in Barry Township at 5:55 a.m. and approaching a left curve. Taylor observed a deer standing on the road and swerved to avoid it. He traveled onto the east berm and into a grassy area.He then lost control and traveled along the berm for 72 feet before hitting a mailbox, continued along the berm for another 110 feet before hitting a traffic sign and coming to rest in a ditch. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.Troopers said Taylor was cited for the crash.
