A Shenandoah man who fell and hit his head on Oct. 11 has been cited by Tamaqua police.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Spruce and South Railroad streets at 12:23 p.m. for a male who had fallen off a wall. When officers arrived, they were directed by a witness to Johnny Baker, 35, of 513 W. Coal St., who was walking west on Spruce Street. When Baker saw the officer, he began to run toward the rear of a home on Cherry Street.The officer followed and caught up with him. A routine records check indicated there was a warrant issued for Baker's arrest.A pat-down search found a can of Endust in the sleeve of Baker's hoodie, which he said he "huffed" before falling off the wall. It was learned the Endust had been stolen from the Rite Aid store on Center Street.Baker was transported by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale for treatment of a large cut on his head, caused by the fall.He was treated and released, then transported to the Schuylkill County Prison, where a paperwork mix-up led to Baker's release.Police cited him for retail theft.
