A howling, ghostly wind couldn't keep all the spooky-looking characters from marching through the streets of Kunkletown on Sunday. Many received prizes and all got treats at the Eldred Township Halloween Parade.

This year's grand marshals were Kay Frable and Janet Smith.Providing wailing sirens and flashing lights were trucks and volunteers from three local fire companies: Kunkletown, Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder, and Polk.There was even marching music played by the Celtic United Pipes and Drums.This year's costume winners were:• Best Group: First, The Pirates from Kunkletown General Store; second, The Hand Stand Posse; third, Saylorsburg Haunted Woods Spooks/Joe Walsh.• Ugliest: First, Saylorsburg Haunted Woods/Joe Walsh.• Best Float: First, Disney's "Frozen" with Alexis and Kelsey Stankovich; second, Saylorsburg Haunted Woods/Joe Walsh; Third, Operation: Touch of Home/Tammy Gower.• Most Original: First, Mouse in a Trap/Kiley Ann Witt; second, Aliens from Saylorsburg Haunted Woods/Joe Walsh; third, Lego Flash Character, Hunter Brunell.• Cutest: First, Little Fawn/Brody DeSieno; second, princess Elsa and Olaf/Miranda and Lucas Wilkins; third, Lollipop Kids/Saylorsburg Haunted Woods/Joe Walsh.• Best Pair: First, Scarecrows, Danica and Kailyn Getz; second, The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who/Emily and Brianna Shupp; third, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Myers/Saylorsburg Haunted Woods/Joe and Julie Walsh.
