Police are investigating an armed robbery of the First National Pharmacy in Lehighton.

Shortly after 4 p.m. a lone male entered the business brandishing a handgun. The bandit made off on foot running behind the Blue Ridge Cable office across the street.

Witnesses at the scene report seeing as many as ten state police units as well as police from Lehighton, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe and Mahoning and Franklin townships.

The robber picked the opportune moment for the getaway, when traffic was snarled from the Halloween parade.
