Lady Harmony Rebekah Lodge 86 of Tamaqua, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, recently had a special visitor. Jessie J. Holzapfel of Hadley, president of the association, traveled more than five hours to visit the Tamaqua lodge, which was officially instituted in 2012, making it one of the newest Tamaqua fraternal organizations.Also attending the special event were 25 members representing lodges from across the state, including Nazareth, Leesport, Sandy Lake, Sellersville, Schnecksville and Rew.Current officers are Tyler Arnold, grand noble; Alisha Valedon, vice grand; Kate Bailey, secretary; and Pat Eisenberg, treasurer.The Tamaqua involvement in Odd Fellowship has been going strong for more than 170 years.For more information on the Harmony or Lady Harmony Lodges, visit their Facebook pages by searching for IOOF Harmony.Owl Creek hayridesThe Owl Creek Reservoir Commission is planning its annual Fall Foliage celebration, scheduled for Oct. 25 and Oct. 26. The popular hayrides have returned with a bit of a twist this year. The commission is sponsoring a contest for its Saturday night Haunted Hayride.
