Carbon crashes investigated by State Police

State police at Lehighton reported on several crashes investigated by troopers on Carbon County roadways.

A two-vehicle crash occurred at 3:50 p.m. Sept. 15 at the intersection of Canal Street and Main Road in Franklin Township. Troopers said Ronald D. Neff, 62, of Lehighton, was driving a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup northbound on Canal and approaching the intersection while Denise M. Ackles, 48, of Barnesville, driving a 2011 Toyota Scion, was stopped on Canal Street behind another vehicle, at the intersection.Neff did not stop and his vehicle struck the rear of the Toyota. After impact the Ranger continued along the right side of the road, went onto a curb and impacted with a stop sign knocking it to the ground.Neff was injured and taken to the Lehighton hospital. Ackles was not injured.A one-vehicle crash occurred at 8:02 p.m. Sept. 16 along Forest Street, near Hemlock Street, in Towamensing Township. Troopers said a 16-year-old male from Jim Thorpe was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, eastbound and lost control. The vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The teen was not injured.A two-vehicle crash was reported at 8:55 p.m. Sept. 16 at the same location as above. Troopers said a 2002 Jeep Cherokee was being operated by a 16-year-old juvenile from Jim Thorpe and following a 2007 Ford Ranger, driven by a 16-year-old juvenile from Lehighton. As the Lehighton teen came to a stop at the intersection with Hemlock Street his vehicle was struck in the rear by the Jeep. No one was injured.A two-vehicle crash occurred at 4:39 p.m. on Sept. 27 along Behrens Road at Indian Trail in Penn Forest Township. Troopers said Mark Quartiere, 54, of Massapequa, New York, was driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey northbound. As he approached the intersection, Mary Lindsay, 67, of Jim Thorpe, driving a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, pulled out in front of Quartiere and a collision occurred.No one was injured.A two-vehicle crash occurred at 3:20 p.m. on Oct. 5 along Hickory Road, in Towamensing Township.Troopers said Corey J. Reinheimer, 36, of Palmerton, driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla, was stopped in a driveway while a 16-year-old male from Lehighton, was driving a 1990 Ford Bronco, northbound. Reinheimer pulled from the driveway to go south with the teen unable to stop and a collision occurred.Reinheimer, the teen and the teen's 16-year-old male passenger from Palmerton, were all not injured.Reinheimer was cited for the crash.A two-vehicle crash occurred at 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 10 along Summer Mountain Road in Lower Towamensing Township.Troopers said Deanne B. George, 33, of Palmerton, was driving a 2005 Ford Escape southbound and rounding a right curve when she crossed into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and struck the side front end of a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 truck operated by Jeffrey R. Buck, 30, of Palmerton.No one was injured. George was cited for the crash.
