Missing Mahoning teen located, is safe

The missing Mahoning Township teen showed up shortly after 1 p.m. Monday at the Shenandoah police station.

"She's safe. She was found. She's been located and we're looking forward to being reunited with her," said her stepmother Melissa Nolter-Barnes, Monday afternoon.

Nolter-Barnes, Pottsville, said her step-daugther, Summer Barnes, 16, had been last seen Oct. 5 at a Tamaqua restaurant and her whereabouts since then are unknown. She has not contact family members.

Barnes’ mother, Genivive Skjerseth, arrived from San Diego last week to help search for her daughter.

“This is her first time in Pennsylvania and she came her to help,” said Nolter-Barnes.

Both women said the teen has never done this before.
