Dems hold onto edge in Carbon

A total of 38,789 Carbon County residents are eligible to vote in the 2014 General Election on Nov. 4.

As of the close of the registration period last week, 186 more eligible voters were added to those eligible in May.The Democratic Party continues to hold the lead over the Republican Party by 3,803 voters. The Democrats have 18,454 registered voters, with 14,651 Republicans eligible.In addition, 2,874 people opt to have no affiliation, and 1,041 people have declared themselves as "nonpartisans." Another 1,058 residents are registered as Independents.Other county registrations:Libertarians, 261; no party, 216; Green, 76; other, 24; blank, 21; none, 20; Constitutional and Conservative, 17 each; Independence, 12; Reform, 9; Liberal, 5; Patriot, Constitution, Consumers, Halloween and Independent Democrats, three each; unknown, neutral and not sure, two each; and American, Anarchist, Birthday, Bull Moose, Freedom, Independent Republican, Mutual, Open, Phreak the 4th, Right to Life, Tea and undecided, one each.There are 51 election districts throughout the county's 23 municipalities.
