Driving through Tamaqua next week will be challenging as two street paving projects will get underway early in the week, weather permitting.

Plans are to do the work on Tuesday and Wednesday.Roadways scheduled for milling and paving are: right turn lane on Center Street, near Burger King, to Cedar Street intersection; Cedar Street, from Center Street to South Pine Street (alley between dinner parking lot and U.S. Towing garage); Mauch Chunk Street, from Greenwood Street to Schuylkill Avenue.Due to the projected work, parking will be prohibited in the work areas and the listed streets may be closed for extended periods of time. Streets will be posted in advance and vehicles must be moved from the posted areas. Any vehicle not moved will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.Motorists traveling near these area should expect delays and allow for additional travel time.
