Hunting opens in Pike

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has opened some portions of Pike County that previously were closed due to the ongoing search for Eric Frein.

Hunting and trapping season is open in all of Lehman Township, and the eastern portions of Blooming Grove and Porter townships.The State Game Lands 183 shooting range in Palmyra Township, Pike County, also has been reopened to public use.Hunting and trapping remains closed within Greene Township, Pike County, and Price, Barrett and Paradise townships in Monroe County. Portions of State Game Lands 183 and 221 remain closed, as does the western tip of State Game Lands 180.In Blooming Grove Township, hunting is allowed starting from the northern border of Route 6, portions east of state Route 739, south of Route 84 and east of State Route 402.Hunters within the previously closed areas should wear 250 square inches of fluorescent orange and be visible from 360 degrees.A map and more details are available at the Game Commission's website.
