Allentown man pleads in federal court to drug dealing in Carbon

An Allentown man has pleaded guilty in federal court to his part in a drug dealing ring in Carbon County. He is the sixth defendant in the case to enter a plea.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said that Jose Torres, 25, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Senior U.S. District Judge Edwin M. Kosik to the charge of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and powder cocaine.According to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith, Torres admitted to participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine in the Carbon County area between January 2011 and December 2012.Torres is the sixth defendant to enter a guilty plea in connection with the investigation. Previously, Bonnie Vosburgh, 22, of Nesquehoning; Victoria Argott, 34, of Lansford; Ceres Lozada, 27, of Nesquehoning; Alexander "Butch" Sommers, 47, of Summit Hill; and Joseph Revell, 21, of Nesquehoning, entered guilty pleas and admitted to participating in the same cocaine trafficking conspiracy.The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Nesquehoning and Lansford police departments.The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. O'Hara.
