Hearing postponed for man charged with sexual assault

A hearing for a 48-year-old Lehighton man charged with providing a 15-year-old boy with alcohol and then sexually assaulting him has been continued.

The defendant is Jay Alexander Nenscel, who is accused by police of committing the offenses on March 21 in Summit Hill.Nenscel is free on $100,000 unsecured bail.A hearing was scheduled Wednesday before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford, but was postponed until 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.Nenscel is charged with corruption of minors, a felony; corruption of minors, a misdemeanor; three counts of indecent assault; and selling or furnishing liquor or malt beverages to minors.The arresting officer is Todd Woodward of the Summit Hill Police Department.Woodward writes in his affidavit that an interview by Children's Advocacy Center in Scranton with the victim indicates that on March 3, Nenscel showed the boy pornography and provided him with "Natural Ice" beer.On March 21, the affidavit says, Nenscel provided the victim with Old Grand Dad whiskey and Yuengling beer, they assaulted the youth while the boy was unconscious.Woodward says in the court document, "The defendant was informed of his Miranda rights and provided a voluntary written statement in which he stated the events probably happened."
