Owl Creek hayrides

The Owl Creek Reservoir Commission is back in full swing after repairs were completed at the Owl Creek Dam. The group is busy planning its annual Fall Foliage celebration, with hayrides scheduled for Oct. 25 and 26.A haunted hayride will be held after dusk that Saturday and "haunters" are needed. The best haunting groups will be eligible for prizes, and each haunter will receive a food voucher.For more information, call 570-778-7905.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Sept. 23 at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville with 51 members in attendance.The business session was conducted by President Eleanor Schmerfeld. Kathleen Valentine provided an inspirational reading, "Autumn Display." Treasurer Shirley Becker and secretary Ruthann Feane provided their reports.Birthday greetings were offered to Betty Brobst and Feane. The group discussed plans for a Christmas party and a trip to Penn's Peak.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the fire company. The next regular meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 14.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Animal blessingCalvary Episcopal Church will sponsor a blessing of the animals church service at 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 12. The church is located at 300 W. Broad St. and the public is welcome to attend.For those unable to make the service, a second animal blessing will be held outside the church at noon.
