The 15th annual Lights On Afterschool program will take place across the country on Oct. 16.

In Carbon County, the Carbon and Schuylkill SHINE and Career Academy will hold a special assembly for the community at 5 p.m. at Jim Thorpe Area High School, 1 Olympian Way, Jim Thorpe.All are welcome to attend.This year's theme is "10 Years and Still Shining."Following the program, light refreshments will be served.For more information, contact the SHINE Afterschool office at 570-325-2771 or email
