Two area fire companies won cash awards for their marching units at the annual State Fireman's Association parade in Gettysburg. The $250 award for the second best appearing uniformed fire unit in the parade went to the Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1 of Lehighton. The American Hose Co. of Tamaqua, with its 62 member marching unit, received the $100 prize for being the second largest uniformed unit in the line of march.
