State police at Lehighton report stationary and roving DUI patrols conducted from 8 p.m,. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday in Carbon and Monroe counties netted eight drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Also, one driver was arrested for possession of marijuana, and another for endangering the welfare of children.

In addition, four other drivers were arrested, but released after passing field sobriety tests. In all, police issued 45 citations and 52 traffic wearnings.
