On Sept. 12, Lehigh Township Regional DUI task force conducted a DUI checkpoint on routes 248 and 873. During the checkpoint, 725 vehicle contacts occurred.

Drug chargesJonathan Christman, 18, and Margaret Ermlick, 18, both of Palmerton, were stopped at the DUI checkpoint on 248 and 873 when police observed drug paraphernalia in Ermlick's 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. Christman was charged with possession of marijuana, while Ermlick was charged with drug paraphernalia.Arrested for DUIJason Behler, 46, of Lehighton, was arrested at the DUI checkpoint on 248 and 873 Lehigh Township, for driving under the influence of alcohol, and having an open container of beer in his Ford F150 truck.Daniel Fatzinger, 27, of Walnutport, was stopped driving his 1998 Saturn, in the DUI checkpoint on 248 and 873, Lehigh Township, when police observed signs of impairment. Fatzinger was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.Stop nets vehicle chargesTodd Mantagna, 33, of Nazareth, was stopped at the DUI checkpoint on 248 and 873, Lehigh Township. Mantagna stopped for a vehicle registration violation on his 1997 Chevrolet CK3500 truck. Mantagna was charged with altered, forged or counterfeit documents & plates.Active warrantWayne Lenches, 22, of Fords, New Jersey, was arrested at the DUI checkpoint on 248 and 873 Lehigh Township. Lenches was stopped at the checkpoint for not having a driver's license. During the investigation, it was determined he had a warrant for arrest in New Jersey. Lenches was charged with fugitive from justice, and remanded to Northampton County Prison.Other incidents in Lehigh County are as follows:Arrested aftertraffic stopRichard Davis, 22, of Northampton, was arrested on Sept. 1 after a traffic stop on Hickory Road and Maple Drive in Lehigh Township. Davis was told he had a bench warrant for his arrest. Davis subsequently fled from police into a wooded area. On Sept. 6, Davis was apprehended by Allentown Police and detained in Lehigh County Prison.Hit-and-runYoscar Archila-Ramirez, 35, of Macungie, was arrested on Sept. 12 for a hit-and-run that occurred on Blue Mountain Drive and 248 in Cherryville.Archila-Ramirez was driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on Blue Mountain Drive and was involved in a crash at the intersection of 248. Archila-Ramirez fled the scene.A witness provided police with a description of the vehicle. The Pontiac was stopped by police in Moore Township. Archila-Ramirez was charged with accidents involving damage to attended vehicle, driving without a valid license and running a red light.Charged withintimidationTerri Karmonick, 50, of Treichlers, was charged Sept. 12 with victim intimidation stemming from a trespassing incident that occurred July 16 at 474 Blue Mountain Drive in Walnutport. According to police, Karmonick was alleged to have called the victim's place of employment, sent text messages, and other communications through third parties.
