Three-car crash in Franklin Township

State Police at Lehighton were at the scene of a three-car crash shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Bridge Street, Canal Road and Main Road in Franklin Township.

A witness at the scene, Bernadette Vachon of Lehighton, gave police these details. Vachon was stopped at the stop sign on Bridge Street.

Vachon said that she watched as a black pickup drove over the sidewalk on the right side of the highway and run over a stop sign before hitting the gray hatchback car in the rear end. The car continued through the four-way intersection before it was disabled from the crash.

Vachon said that there was a third car involved, a Jeep, but the Jeep left the scene of the crash.

The driver of the black Ford Ranger was Ron Neff, while Denise Ackles of Barnesville was the driver of the gray Scion XD hatchback.

Both Neff and Ackles were traveling north on Canal Road. Ackles was stopped at the stop sign behind the Jeep. Ackles Scion XD car had moderate front damage and severe back damage.

Neff's vehicle was damaged on the front left driver's side from hitting the Ackles car, plus had front right driver's side damage from hitting the curb.

One person was treated at the scene by paramedics.

State police at Lehighton will issue a press release about the incident.
