Former Dunkin' Donuts manager charged with theft

Tamaqua Police have charged the former manager of the Dunkin' Donuts with theft related to her failure to deposit funds over a three-day period in July.

Janelle Ostrowski, 35, of 447 Hazle St., Tamaqua, was employed as a manager of the Tamaqua store, 30-32 Center St., during the time period of July 20 through July 22.Daily receipts are placed in a safe at the end of each employee's shift and are then deposited in the bank by the manager.On each of those three days, there were no deposits made, although the sales were recorded as $1.723.35 on July 20, $1,434.13 on July 21 and $719.09 on July 22.When questioned by the Dunkin' Donuts district manager, Ostrowski said she had no knowledge of where the money could be, although she was the only employee with a key to the safe on those days.She was charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
