September 10, 1954 Ted Snyder carries 14 times for 126 yards and also scores a touchdown to help lead Tamaqua to a 33-12 opening day win over Summit Hill. Quarterback John Angelo adds a score on a one-yard keeper and throws a 16-yard TD pass to Joe Neuklis. The Blue Raiders, coached by Bob Hartwig Jr., receive a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown from Clarence Fusselman while Snyder's TD runs comes from 26 yards away. Luther Miller contributes an 11-yard scoring run and an interception that sets up Angelo's six-pointer.
