Schuylkill man jailed following incidents

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Friday following incidents that began in Frackville and ended along Interstate 81 in New Castle Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said the incident began at 7 p.m. along Route 61 in West Mahanoy Township, were a 37-year-old woman was operating a vehicle with Patrick Fogarty, 42, of Frackville, as a front seat passenger.Troopers said on three occasions while the vehicle was in motion Fogarty forcefully pushed the female's right leg causing the vehicle to accelerate. He also grabbed the steering wheel of the vehicle which caused it to go off the road.While the vehicle was stopped at Route 61 and I81, Fogarty grabbed the victim by her hair and threatened to punch her. During this time he made multiple threats to harm her.The victim then entered I-81 southbound with the incident finally ending in the area of mile marker 123 in New Castle Township. Fogarty again grabbed the steering wheel and caused the vehicle to go off the road into the median. At this point the victim fled the vehicle. Fogarty also exited the vehicle and walked back to Frackville.When the victim returned home she called state police. Troopers found Fogarty and took him into custody.He was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge David A. Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $35,000 bail.
