Stephan A. Swanson, 32, of Kunkletown, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 3 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Paw Paw Drive and Big Spring Boulevard in Polk Township.

Police said he was driving a 2000 GMC Safari at the intersection, which is within a private development. He told police he was southbound on Paw Paw Road and approaching the intersection when his brake system failed.Police said the operator was unable to slow or stop the vehicle and attempted to negotiate a left turn onto Big Spring Boulevard. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled onto the south berm and struck a tree.The vehicle sustained disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene.
