Two Tamaqua women were the victims of a theft committed by Jacob Kamant, 23, of 130 Hunter St., Tamaqua.
Victim one went to the borough police station at 6:55 p.m. on Aug. 27 to report a theft. She told an officer a couch, a love seat, a kitchen table and two chairs were missing from 220 Hunter St., a house she used strictly for storage.Kamant had a washer and dryer stored at the property and made arrangements to retrieve his items earlier this year. The victim discovered he took more than his property, as well as finding out the items were sold to a Tamaqua woman.The second woman told officers Kamant sold her the items for $300 in late January. She still had the items and had no clue they were stolen property, and was cooperative with police.Kamant was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and theft by deception.
