New Pleasant Valley Elementary School principal Erica Greer and a few students rang the school bell, a long-standing tradition on the first day of school. Greer says that there are 1,375 students enrolled in kindergarten through third grade. She is excited about her new job, saying she began teaching first grade at Pleasant Valley Elementary 11 years ago and has now come full circle. Kindergarten a.m. and p.m. students and their parents spent the first dayin orientation. First-graders and good friends since preschool Michael Horstman and Andrew Miller, both 6, said they were feeling a little nervous about the first day, but Michael said he was also feeling good about it.
