Windows damaged at Valor veterans clinic

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a criminal mischief incident in which someone caused about $1,000 worth of damages at the Valor Clinic in Polk Township.

Police said the incident was discovered Tuesday at the Major Paul Syverson Memorial Sanctuary, 1130 Scenic Drive, Kunkletown, where the clinic will be housed.On the site of the former Jonas Hotel, the nonprofit charity focused on helping veterans with limited or no access to care get assistance with benefits, and shelter to veterans who, because of health or lack of means, are unable to find or keep shelter of their own.Valor stands for Veterans Assisted Living Out Reach.The mission is to improve the lives of veterans by providing free access to coaching and care that will address service-connected conditions and improve skills for work and life outside of service.Volunteers have been helping to prepare the site which has been unoccupied since last year. Groups have been helping with cleaning, yard work and repairs.Police said multiple windows at the property were damaged.
