Jordan M. Ohl, 18, of 19 Cheyenne Lane, Lehighton, has been cited by Jim Thorpe police as a result of a hit-and-run crash at 2:17 p.m. June 3 at the intersection of routes 903 and 209 in the borough.
Police said Ohl is charged for an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, failure to provide immediate notice of an accident to police and careless driving.Police said they were summoned to the scene, which is at the interborough bridge, at which time Christopher Roberto of Sea Cliff, New York, told them he was stopped in his vehicle waiting for the traffic light to turn green when a blue pickup traveling south on Route 903 ran the light while making a left turn onto Route 209. Roberto said the driver of the pickup lost control of the vehicle, which spun out, striking his vehicle on the driver's side. Police said the driver of the pickup backed up and fled the scene.Police said they later stopped a 1993 Dodge Ram pickup truck that Ohl was operating and he admitted he was trying to beat the traffic light, causing him to lose control. After the truck struck Roberto's vehicle, Ohl fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
