Update: Police release photos of suspects In Hometown bank robbery

The Rush Township Police Department responded to a bank robbery at the Mauch Chunk Trust Bank (MCT) on 226 Claremont Ave in Hometown at 2:07 p.m. today.

A man entered the bank with pantyhose over his face. He was wearing white sunglasses with a Philadelphia Phillies baseball hat.

The man made off with an unknown amount of money and red dye packs.

He left the store and got into a Ford explorer sport trac 4 door pickup.

A witness was able to get a license plate HCS-9343 which came back stolen. 

The vehicle was later involved in a hit-and-run in Hazleton on Poplar Street.

A small amount of money was from Poplar Street.

A description of a possible second suspect was not immediately available.

An attempted robbery was made at a bank in Hazleton at 1:30 p.m. It is not known if the incidents were related.

The incident is the second robbery in broad daylight in Hometown in just nine days. On August 18, robbers entered Radio Shack at HT Commons Shopping Center in the late morning, tied up an employee and stole a significant amount of electronic items.
