Theft of model trains probed

Jim Thorpe police are investigating the theft of two model trains that occurred over the past weekend.

Police said the trains were stolen before an estate auction at 8 First Lane on Saturday.The first engine is described as being a Pennsylvania 2-10-0 (I-1) model, produced by Atlas Industries and sold by United. It is about 9 inches long, unpainted and brass. The second engine is described as being a Southern Pacific GS 4-8-4 model, produced by Katsumi. It is about 22 inches long, black and undecorated.The victim does not want to press charges and would just like the trains returned with no questions asked, police said. The victim also asked that other train enthusiasts keep an eye out for the trains at other auctions and train meets.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police at 570-325-4995.
