Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Aug. 12 at the Ryan Township Fire Company, Barnesville, with 48 members in attendance. There was also one guest, Anita Arcand.The business session was conducted by President Eleanor Schmerfeld.Reports were offered by Ruth Ann Feane, secretary, and Shirley Becker, treasurer.Hub and Shirley Becker were offered anniversary wishes.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the fire company. The next meeting is 1 p.m. on Aug. 26.The group plans to travel to the Bloomsburg Fair on Sept. 22.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Summer concertsThe next event in the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce's Summer Concert Series will be held Aug. 21 and will feature BC Combo playing the blues.Concerts are held from 6 to 8 p.m., on select Thursdays, on the platform at the Tamaqua Train Station throughout the summer season.Upcoming shows include: Aug. 28, Coal County Express (bluegrass); and Sept. 4, Fred Douglas (oldies).For more information, call the chamber at 570-668-1880 or email

A contemporary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Tamaqua YMCA, including nursery and primary church.
