Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on an attempted suicide that occurred on Aug. 13 at Route 940 and Interstate 380 in Pocono Summit, Tobyhanna Township, in which a passing motorist saved the life of the person involved.
Police were dispatched to that location at 4:38 p.m. for a report of a male attempting to jump from the Route 940 bridge onto the interstate below. The jumper was reportedly being restrained by a passing motorist.Police arrived a short time later and found the man in question being restrained by another man who had stopped to help keep the man from jumping.It was learned that the man had consumed gasoline and numerous prescription pills and climbed on top of a wall of the bridge to commit suicide. The passer-by stopped and restrained him.The man was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
