Seven people injured in Monroe County crash

Seven people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that happened at 9:27 p.m. Aug. 2 at the intersection of routes 209 and 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks investigated and said a 1997 Toyota Camry operated by Unell Grier, 48, of Allentown, crashed into a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Courtney L. Dobbins, 45, of Kresgeville.Police did not provide any other details about how the accident happened but said Grier was cited for a traffic control signal violation.Police said Grier sustained minor injuries, as did four of his passengers, including a 17-year-old girl from Allentown, another 17-year-old girl whose residence was not provided by police, Calvin E. Hunter, 18, of Bethlehem, and a 1-year-old girl from Allentown, who was secured in a child safety seat. Police said the victims' injuries ranged from minor to unknown severity.Dobbins was also injured, although the severity of her injuries were unknown at the time of the crash. A passenger with her, Phillip M. Howenstine, 48, also of Kresgeville, sustained minor injuries, police said.Police were assisted at the scene by the West End Fire Company and EMS unit, the Pocono Mountain and Central Pocono EMS units, fire police and Wayne's Towing.
