Fake bomb suspect back in Carbon County

A Lansford man charged with planting a fake bomb near the car of a Nesquehoning woman he had been harassing is in Carbon County Prison after being caught in York County.

Carbon County sheriff's deputies brought John Large, 49, back to the county on July 24.He was arraigned the next day before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Sept. 3.Large faces a felony charge of risking or causing a catastrophe; and charges of making terroristic threats with the intention of terrorizing another, terroristic threats to cause serious public inconvenience, criminal mischief/tampering with property, disorderly conduct, and harassment, all stemming from June 14.That's when Maureen Osinchak and her husband, Tom, discovered their vehicles had been vandalized, threatening notes were left on the windshields and a duct-taped box of honey nut Cheerios on which was printed "tic toc" had been placed on the ground near Maureen Osinchak's car.Large, who has a troubled history, was apparently upset with Osinchak, who is an administrator for HCR Manor Care, Bethlehem, where Large's daughter was a patient.Osinchak told Nesquehoning officer Timothy Wuttke that he was aggressively pushing for his daughter's discharge to a facility in Hometown. Police had been called to Manor Care to have him removed.Large doesn't have custody of the girl and so cannot make her medical decisions.Large fled when he learned police suspected him of causing trouble at the Osinchaks' house. They later learned he was making trouble at a hospital in York county, where authorities says he assaulted several hospital staff. He tried to flee, but York County police caught him.
