Struggling with addictionIf you or someone you know is struggling with drug and/or alcohol abuse and wants help, be sure to attend Church on the Rock, 1 W. Hazard St., at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, at 11 a.m. Sunday.The "Holy Ground" worship team from the "Teen Challenge" program will appear with music and testimony. During the service, you will hear from men and women who have taken the path to recovery and victory through this Christ-centered rehabilitation program.The Teen Challenge program serves both teens as well as adults.The public is encouraged to attend.Vacation Bible SchoolChurch on the Rock will hold a vacation Bible school from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Aug. 11-15 at "Fennon's Grove" located at the intersection of Andreas Road and Winter Mountain Drive in Andreas.Children will learn about Jesus, play games, swim, do crafts and make friends.For further information or to register, call Chris at 570-417-3752.Flag programThe Summit Hill Lions Club continues its American flag program. Throughout the good weather months, the flag will fly in Ludlow Park in memory or honor of the veterans.Family members or veterans themselves, can request to be scheduled by contacting Joseph O'Gurek at 570-645-5171.This past week, the flag was flown in memory of John, Michael and Joseph Lawrence, three brothers who were Army veterans of World War II.John attained the rank of technical sergeant while working as a clerk with service in Brisbane, Australia. Michael became a corporal while serving in combat in Germany. Joseph was a private first class who also served in combat in Germany, where he had the misfortune of being shot, losing a leg.During the week of July 27, the flag was flown in memory of Thomas and Earl Henninger.They were twin brothers who served together in the Army in Korea and Japan from 1948-52. They had the good fortune of having never been separated from each other while they were in the service.During the week of Aug. 11, the flag will be flown in honor of Stanley B. Gieniec Jr., who is an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of E-4. He participated in the Incursion into Cambodia and is a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal.LansfordAMVETS to meetA reorganizational meeting for the Lansford AMVETS Post 83 will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lansford Legion Post 123, located at 3 W. Ridge St.
