'Burnout' costly for Tamaqua man

A guardrail blocked a Tamaqua man's attempt to do a burnout with his 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier on July 31.

Kevin Kyle Kaufman, 22, of 124 Clay St., was driving at 11:10 a.m., traveling north in the parking lot of District Judge Stephen Bayer, when he accelerated in an attempt to do a burnout.Unfortunately, police said a guardrail separating the Turkey Hill Minit Mart lot from the driveway at Tamaqua Borough Hall, was in his way.The Cavalier struck the guardrail, causing front-end damage to the car.Kaufman was cited for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle and reckless driving.
