The day was hot and humid, but the senior citizens attending this week's summer outing at Memorial Park in Jim Thorpe were as cool as the proverbial cucumber.

It was their day to enjoy the festivities arranged by the Carbon County Office on Aging, and the estimated 600 men and women enjoyed it to the fullest.There was enough chow to feed an army, not to mention a seemingly endless supply of cooling birch beer.Mary Kobrick of White Bear was the life of the party, putting together a program replete in everything that was fun, fun, fun.
