Monroe driver facing DUI charge

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident that occurred at 1:10 a.m. on Monday.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said a vehicle was observed traveling through the Mount Pocono Plaza at a high rate of speed. It was next observed turning onto Route 940 without stopping for a red traffic signal.Police made a vehicle stop and the driver was identified as Matthew Mazza, 22, of Canadensis. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests.He was then transported to the county DUI center, where he submitted to a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.
