Members of the Carbon County Redevelopment Authority were informed that demolition work at the site of the former Hotel Lehighton and Brights Store, both on First Street in Lehighton,is set to begin.

The large structures are being razed to make way for a hi-rise apartment.Thomas J. Shaughnessy, the county's planning director, said everything is ready for the demolition work to begin. The hi-rise will be built across the street from the Lehighton Elks Lodge.
