Two motorcycle crashes on I-81

State police at Frackville reported investigating two motorcycle crashes along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County over the weekend.

The first crash occurred at 9:55 a.m. on Saturday in Frailey Township.Troopers said Eric J. Groesbeck, 48, of Port Byron, N.Y., was operating a 2002 Harley-Davison Ultra Classic motorcycle northbound and traveling through a construction zone, which was limited to one lane. James E. Reisnyder, 68, of Palmyra, Lebanon County, was northbound driving a 2001 Buick Century.Troopers said Reisnyder suddenly slammed on his brakes and Groesbeck was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Century. Groesbeck was ejected from the bike into the grass median.Groesbeck sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Reisnyder and his passenger, Cynthia A. Bankowitz, 68, of Lebanon, were not injured. Damages were disabling to the bike and minor to the Century.Groesbeck was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed, troopers said.The second bike crash occurred at 1:25 p.m. on Sunday in Butler Township, in a one-lane construction zone.Troopers said William Danford, 35, of Cincinnati, Ohio, operating a 2012 Harley-Davidson bike and a white male driving an Acura Sports Utility Vehicle, became involved in a dispute. The male operating the SUV drove around Danford to enter the exit ramp at Highridge Road. As the Acura passed the bike, Danford lost control. The bike fell over onto its left side and the passenger, Holly Danford, 36, same address, was injured when the bike fell.The operator of the SUV stopped momentarily but then continued on the exit ramp. Holly Danford was transported to the SMC-S, for treatment of injuries. William Danford was not injured and was able to continue to operate the bike.Troopers are seeking the operator of the Acura, which had a Pennsylvania registration plate. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.Troopers also investigated a one-vehicle crash on I-81 in Kline Township, at 1:18 p.m. on Saturday.Troopers said Joanna Martin, 34, of Coatesville, was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Passat northbound in the left lane when her vehicle drifted into the center median and began driving on rumble strips. She steered hard right and lost control.The Passat went onto the berm while spinning clockwise and the driver's side rear struck the guide rails where it came to rest.Martin and four passengers were all not injured. Damages were disabling to the Passat. Troopers cited Martin for the crash.
