Troopers respond to Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roads.

A one-vehicle crash occurred at 1 p.m. on Thursday along Route 209 in Porter Township. Troopers said Benjamin D. Hillard, 44, of Valley View, was driving a 2002 Toyota Echo northbound when the car left the road and entered a grassy area, then went down an embankment striking a tree.Hillard sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene. The car had to be towed from the scene. Troopers said Hillard was cited for the crash.A four-vehicle crash was reported at 4:38 p.m. on Thursday along Route 61, at the intersection with Race Street in Port Clinton.Troopers said Angela M. Olshevski, 31, of Port Clinton, driving a 2012 Hyundai Accent, was northbound and attempting a left turn onto Race Street. She crossed into the southbound lane and into the path of a 2003 Mazda Protege driven by Luis Diodonet-Caraballo, 60, of Lebanon.Diodonet-Caraballo swerved to avoid a collision but struck the Accent causing significant damage to the left side. After impact the Mazda continued southbound a distance and stopped.Erica L. Ireland, 39, of Pottsville, was northbound in a 2006 Infiniti; a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by John J. Granito, 47, of Orwigsburg, was behind her. Ireland applied her brakes for the first collision and her vehicle was struck from behind by the Fusion. Significant damage was done to the front of the Infiniti with major damage to the rear of the Fusion.Olshevski sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Reading hospital. No one else was injured.Troopers cited Olshevski.A hit-and-run crash was reported at 1:20 a.m. on Saturday along Greenview Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said a vehicle was driven southbound when the driver lost control and struck a mailbox along the berm.After impact the driver fled the scene.
