Probation revoked in meth lab case

A local man involved in a Coaldale meth lab operation last May may apply for parole from his state prison sentence if he is eligible. But until then, he's behind bars.

Schuylkill County Judge John Dolbin on July 17 found that Tyler Strawdinger, 21, violated the conditions of his probation from a March 1, 2012, sentence, and revoked the probation.Dolbin resentenced Strawdinger back to county prison to finish his sentence, and to pay any costs, fines or fees he has incurred. Strawdinger's new maximum sentence ends on Feb. 2, 2015.Strawdinger, then 18, along with three others, had been charged by Coaldale police after an incident at 101 E. High St. on April 5, 2011. The others were Michele Romig, James Levan and Patrick Shoemaker. They were charged with possession of liquefied ammonia gas and other dangerous chemicals, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and other charges.Police arrested the group after county probation and parole officers arrived at the house where they were staying to check on Romig, who was in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program for welfare fraud. Inside the house, officers found a portable methamphetamine lab. Also known as a meth kit, the black book bag contained funnels, tubing, drain cleaner and other volatile chemicals used to make methamphetamine; drug paraphernalia; and heroin.Strawdinger, originally from Stroudsburg, has also been involved in drug violations in Lansford and Tamaqua.
