Woman facing multiple charges

A Tamaqua woman has been cited following an incident in the Tamaqua Burger King parking lot on July 7.

Police were dispatched to the restaurant at 6:21 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman who seemed to be asleep while three young children were running around.They found Amanda Bielawne, 24, of 133 Pine St., nodding off and on. Officers collected the three children, ages 7, 4 and 1, woke Bielawne and took all four outside into the parking lot. Bielawne was unable to perform field sobriety tests and was arrested for public drunkenness. Schuylkill County Children and Youth made arrangements for the children.A search of Bielawne's purse yielded three needles, two measuring spoons, 13 empty wax paper bags and three wax paper bags with a brown substance, suspected to be heroin.She was charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct.
