July 21, 1969 Brian Turton pitches a one-hitter to help Tamaqua roll to a 12-2 victory over Valley in the District 18 Little League tournament. Turton, who helps his own cause with a hit and two runs scored, strikes out 10 batters in recording the win. He also receives plenty of support in the first inning as his team scores seven times. Brad Geiger hits a two-run homer and Whitey Williams adds a solo shot in the contest, while Dennis Yelito and Rick Jones both deliver two-run singles. Yelito and Jones finish the game with two hits apiece.
