Weekly produce stand opens in Tamaqua

The local produce season has officially arrived in Tamaqua. Leiby Farms of the Lewistown Valley opened their weekly produce stand next to the Tamaqua ABC High Rise this pastTuesday. Barb and Beth Leiby didn't let a little thing like a potential thunderstorm stop them from offering fresh-grown, local produce to their loyal customers. The market was startedby the Downtown Tamaqua organization and continues through the cooperative efforts of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce, local growers and the Borough of Tamaqua. It proved to be so successful that a Saturday market was also created. The farmers market will now be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday near the high rise, as well as from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Railroad Street parking lot. In addition to Leiby's farm fresh produce, My Nana's Kitchen offers a variety of homemade baked goods.
