State police at Frackville are again warning residents of the Schuylkill Township area of a phone scam.

Troopers said a resident of the township received a call originating in the 876 area code, which is Jamaica, instructing her to electronically transmit an amount of money to secure prize winnings in a contest she did not enter. Fortunately, troopers said, the woman did not respond.Troopers said this is a common and persistent scam in the area and residents are warned not to release any of their personal information to, or participate with, the callers regardless of the promised prizes or other compensations.
