The directors of the Lehighton Area Chamber of Commerce expressed grave concern that the dream of a proposed shopping mall on First Street could be doomed because of apathy.

The concern was noted following the report of Dave Hontz, chairman of the code and enforcement committee, that several inquiries to borough council have been made regarding adoption of codes in order to ensure a better Lehighton have been unproductive.The chamber is hoping a mall can be erected in the vicinity of the Lower Lehighton Park.
