Beware of IRS scam

Residents of Nesquehoning should be cautious of a scam.

Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith received a call from a resident who encountered a male with a heavy Indian accent.The man said his name was Jack Mason and claimed that he was with the IRS.He began ordering the resident to call the number 206-512-1441 to pay the IRS for a penalty with taxes.Smith called the number and said that a female answered with a heavy Indian accent.When he identified himself, she showed signs of nervousness and said she didn't know anyone named Jack Mason, then hung up.Smith asked people to call police if they suspect a scam.
