Saving a life in water

Knowing how to save someone who is drowning is important if you are around water. Chase Donnelly, 12, of Gilbert learns the correct way to toss a float to a possible drowning victim. Teaching him are Palmerton Memorial Park lifeguards and swimming instructor Richard Getz, standing, and Luke Gerhard, in the water. Donnelly is in his second year of lessons and is just one of approximately 175 individuals signed up for the four-week course. Courses are held for 45 minutes Monday through Friday for beginners all the way to advanced swimmers. Swimming lessons are about ready to wrap up for this year at the Palmerton Memorial Park. Other activities to be held on certain Sundays throughout the summer at the pool areChristmas in July, Old Timers Day and Carnival Day.
