Six people were injured, four seriously, when a deck collapsed at a home where the family was celebrating a birthday.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in Towamensing Trails in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Four of the seriously injured were flown from the scene by four air medical transport helicopters while two others were transported by ambulance.

Carbon County Management Director Mark Nalesnik said the injured ranged in age from adults in their 60s to young children.
